Nigeria: Lekki Residents Want Alternative Routes Ahead of Mall Operations
The residents of the 10 estates around Jakande Roundabout in Lekki, Lagos State, said RMB West Port, owners of Circle Mall, should provide them alternative routes before it opens its mall on December 17. They told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the management of the outfit should have consulted widely before citing the mall around Jakande Roundabout. They said that this was because the traffic on the Lekki -Epe Expressway had always been chaotic before now and opening of the mall would attract more human and vehicular traffic to the area.

The Independent National Electoral Commissioner has declared Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress the governor-elect of Kogi State, following yesterday's conclusion of the governorship election declared inconclusive on November 22. The Returning Officer, Immanuel Kucha, declared Mr. Bello winner at 5.26 AM on Sunday, ending a collation exercsise that started 11.06pm on Saturday. The election was declared inconclusive after the margin of win between PDP and APC was less than the number of registered voters in the 91 polling units where election was cancelled.

Lagos: Nigeria's government has vowed to end the Boko Haram insurgency by this month but the deadline looks likely to be missed as attacks persist with little sign of an effective regional response. President Muhammadu Buhari gave his military commanders the target in August to build on apparent gains in recapturing territory seized by the Islamists in 2014.
